Embraer strengthens aerospace supply chain expansion in India

For aerospace manufacturing, defense systems and commercial aviation programs, resilient and geographically diversified supply chains have become a strategic priority. Embraer has taken another step in this direction by advancing its supply chain development activities in India, following an executive-level visit focused on industrial cooperation and long-term sourcing opportunities.

The visit forms part of Embraer’s broader strategy to strengthen collaboration between Brazil and India while expanding its supplier base across key aerospace disciplines. It builds on the company’s established presence in the country and ongoing engagement with local industry and government stakeholders.

Evaluating industrial capabilities across aerospace disciplines
During the visit, Embraer assessed a wide range of Indian suppliers with capabilities relevant to modern aircraft production and systems integration. These include aerostructures assembly, precision machining, metal forming, composite structures, electrical wiring systems, and hardware and software development. Such competencies are essential for supporting both civil aviation platforms and defense and security applications.

By evaluating these capabilities locally, Embraer aims to integrate Indian suppliers into its global production and support networks, aligning quality, certification and delivery requirements with international aerospace standards.

Building a local procurement structure
As part of its supply chain expansion, Embraer has established a dedicated local procurement team in India. This team is intended to work directly with Indian suppliers, supporting qualification processes, industrial development and long-term collaboration. The recent inauguration of Embraer’s office in New Delhi further reinforces this approach, providing a permanent base for supply chain coordination and regional engagement in the Asia-Pacific market.

This localized structure supports Embraer’s objective of developing a sustainable supply chain ecosystem that contributes both to India’s domestic aerospace industry and to the company’s global programs.

India’s role across Embraer’s business segments
India represents a strategic market for Embraer across commercial aviation, executive aviation, and defense and security. More than 44 Embraer aircraft are currently in operation in the country, including platforms used by commercial operators, government VIP transport, and the Indian Air Force.

This operational footprint creates additional incentives to strengthen local industrial participation, not only for manufacturing and assembly, but also for long-term support, upgrades and lifecycle services.

Long-term industrial cooperation
By expanding its supply chain activities in India, Embraer is positioning the country as a key partner within its global aerospace ecosystem. The combination of supplier evaluations, a local procurement organization and an established operational fleet underlines a long-term approach focused on industrial cooperation, technology development and mutually beneficial growth across civil and defense aviation programs.
